News Release – March 2003
Sustainable Strategies contracted to
provide energy management services to Capital Regional
District
Victoria, BC – Sustainable
Strategies Inc. has been awarded a 10 month contract
to provide strategic energy management services to
the Capital Regional District on Vancouver Island.
The award followed a competitive two stage evaluation
process in which Sustainable Strategies was found to
be the most qualified proponent.
The nature of the
assignment will involve Sustainable Strategies coordinating
and providing a complete range of energy management
services to the CRD and its 13 member municipalities
in the greater Victoria area. The primary objective
will be to complete energy retrofit studies at more
than 40 facilities, to determine the extent to which
attractive electricity, natural gas, oil, greenhouse
gas, and water savings opportunities exist. Sustainable
Strategies will be working with representatives from
BC Hydro's Power Smart program to secure study
and project implementation grant funding for the CRD.
Commenting on the upcoming assignment,
Sustainable Strategies President, Dave Edwards,
said, "The key to this project being successful is
to demonstrate
how the energy savings opportunities can result in
both solid financial returns for the customers, as
well as significant societal and environmental benefits...
that is the essence of sustainability... looking for
win-win situations that are core to the strategic objectives
of the client."
The project will run until early
2004.
